A hand-drawn rotoscope animation that pokes fun at the frustrations of Gen-Z online dating — drawing from my own experience with dating apps, with every frame drawn and edited by hand.
I broke the piece into three stages: collecting reference footage, hand-drawing over 200 frames, and editing everything together with color and audio in Premiere Pro.
I was inspired by the scenes from About Time.
I hand-drew over 200 frames in Procreate.
Edited frames, illustrations, and added audio in Premiere Pro.
Rotoscoping is SO TIME CONSUMING... but so is anything that transforms a vision into a masterpiece. Throughout my time working on this project, I learned valuable transferable skills for future experiences.
Although I am proud of what I achieved with my first rotoscope animation, there is still so much left for me to learn and I hope I can bring my insights with me to future animation projects.
